Hopefully this is the last we will hear from former Governor Palin.

I am hoping Sarah Palin's resignation means that she is leaving politics. I find it amazing that so many people think she is the future of the Republican Party when in fact she is the Republican Party's worst nightmare. We need leaders that can reach out to independents and disaffected Democrats. Former Governor Palin is the wrong person to do that. She represents what the majority of Americans don't like about the Republican Party. She is dogmatically pro-life and for abstinence only education. And it is just the height of irony that her own daughter got pregnant out of wedlock. So there is a member of her own family that shows how futile abstinence only education is. Ms. Palin also is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Many red state Republicans may like having leaders that are not intellectuals but most Americans would like a smart person to hold the most intellectually challenging job in the world: President of the United States. Having an ex beauty queen with less than a stellar educational background is not the type of person we want to put forward to convince the country the Republicans are just not uneducated hicks. Our next presidential candidate needs to win some blue states; they just can't win the red states. We need a leader that has shown that can win in a blue state. In Alaska you can win the state by just getting Republicans to vote for you. If you run for President of the United States, and you only get Republicans to vote for you, you will get trounced by your Democrat opponent.
